Character information:

Name: Sakaki Tarou
Age: 53
Major: n/a -- Music teacher.
Single/Double: A penthouse, thanks.

Appearance: Weathered but still in fierce health, Sakaki has the same unmoving hair and stiff suits that are his trademark in canon.

Personality/Biography: Sakaki grew up with a silver spoon in his mouth, completely cared for by his father's staff. His father's occupation is "trade" -- the nature of which was always obscure. His father recommended that Sakaki not continue in the business, however, wanting more for his son than a slightly shady empire. Sakaki earned his own way, excelling in music and tennis, and soon was lured over to Hyoutei by promises from certain rich student families. He brought Hyoutei almost to Nationals several times before deciding that teaching middle school cut into his time for his hobbies. Recently, he has applied to Hajime University, and hopes to be taken on as a tenure-track professor of music.

Sakaki is unmarried, and as a teacher takes his responsibility seriously -- he has an absolutely no affairs with students rule. He has discrete dalliances occasionally with mysterious people, but these remain private. His hobbies currently include sailing his yacht between pacific islands (he has a house in Hawaii), listening to classical concerts, and birdwatching. He has absolutely no involvement in the family business at this time...really.

Sample journal entry:

Private.

The Zangetsu last night was remarkable. I truly felt the setting of the moon, and felt a small pang of empathy for the poet. There is not enough dye to keep my hair forever dark, nor enough time for me to see all of the moon-settings upon the dark waters of the pacific. I worked on my new composition last night, but again it fails to measure up to any that I admire. I become frustrated too easily, a failing that I do not condone in my students, and one that I should guard against.

I believe I will see the Minezaki trio again with O. Their next piece is the Reibo, and features the shakuhachi...an instrument that I haven't heard quite enough of. I look forward to it.

Father wishes me to take care of the Sugihara deal. I will clear up various loose ends.
